Learn to how to dye with easy-to-find plants! This workshop will teach you the basics of bundle dyeing using foraged or homegrown plant materials as well as plant-based kitchen remnants. We will also learn about creating a dye bath with particularly abundant materials such as onion skins and black walnut hulls.

Beginner Needlepoint: Initial Wallet—REGISTRATION CLOSED

Needlepoint is a type of embroidery that involves stitching patterns or designs onto a stiff, open-weave canvas using a needle and thread, covering the entire canvas with simple diagonal stitches. During this class, you will learn to create a needlepoint panel with your choice of initial and colors. When complete, you'll learn how to perfectly install this panel in a wallet (designed to display needlepoint) that you can carry or give as a gift. All supplies are included. No previous experience is required.

Marilyn Isaacs, a member of the Tuscarora Nation, will lead you through learning the basic finger weaving process while making a key chain. Once the key chain is complete you will move into making a belt or long strap for a tote bag, choosing your own color palette.

Join Stitch Buffalo for hands-on activities and unique shopping!

The Western New York Fiber Arts Festival is a not-for-profit event organized to promote and preserve fiber arts education here in Western New York. Its focus is on heritage crafts and their close relationship with fiber producers who raise sheep, llamas, alpacas, goats and rabbits. The festival will offer events and opportunities for the entire family and promises to engage fiber enthusiasts of all ages and expertise.

The festival will be held in a covered outdoor venue with plenty of space for shopping and workshops. Handicap-friendly parking and building accessibility! We look forward to seeing you at the EA Rink!
