Transform a pair of jeans into a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art! Using upcycled materials, you’ll learn how to add appliqué, trims, embroidery, and other accents to embellish and redesign a simple garment.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Students should be comfortable using a sewing machine.
MATERIALS:
Students should bring their own pair of jeans. A worn pair that fits or is a little big is the best option. Don’t wear jeans? A denim jacket or other sturdy (non-stretch) item will work. You may wish to think of a “theme” for your design—and, if you have them, bring any fabrics or other textile items that might work for that concept. We will also have access to plenty of additional materials from Second Stitch.
INSTRUCTOR:
Christine Alsford is a retired teacher and longtime Stitch Buffalo volunteer who is known for her inventive wardrobe and creative upcycling.

Stitch Buffalo is committed to fostering sustainability practices and reducing waste in the textile industry. In this workshop, we will strive to minimize waste and work as much as possible with supplies that have been rescued for reuse.
