Triangle Loom: Argentinian Weaving—With Visiting Artist Viviana Jacqueline Canepa (March 7 and 14, 10am–2pm)

In the first class, we will set up and weave on a traditional triangle pin loom using the TAFETAN stitch and learning the mirror technique. We will make a shawl. you will receive a cardboard loom, to make pennants and a centerpiece. Also covered will be how to join woven fabrics with the loom, and how to make borders, joins, and fringes.

Please note: This class has TWO sessions (March 8 and 14). You will need to attend both classes to complete the projects.

SUPPLIES:
All supplies will be provided. Students will have the option of purchasing the loom.

PREREQUISITES:
No previous experience is required.

INSTRUCTOR:
Viviana Jacqueline Canepa is a weaver from Argentina, who does business under the name Jaky Telar ("telar" is the Spanish word for "loom"). Jaky's mother, sister, and nephew are all Americans, living in Buffalo. With support from Stitch Buffalo and our customers, Jaky is traveling to Buffalo in March to visit her mother, who is no longer able to travel due to health issues. While here, she will also lead classes in traditional Argentinian weaving techniques at Stitch Buffalo.

Due to the nature of this class and the preparation required, class fees are non-refundable.
