Stitched Shibori Tea Towel Sampler—April 26 (10:00am–2:00pm) and April 30 (4:00–6:00pm)
Stitched Shibori Tea Towel Sampler—April 26 (10:00am–2:00pm) and April 30 (4:00–6:00pm)
The stitched Shibori dyeing technique uses thread to create a pattern. The stitches act as a resist so the dye can't penetrate certain areas of the fabric, leaving behind a delicate pattern when dyed. In this class, you will learn to create multiple stitch styles and designs to produce a 28×28-inch cotton tea towel.
Saturday, April 26—Stitching workshop. Students will learn stitches and plan their designs. This work will likely need to be completed at home.
Wednesday, April 30—Students will return with their completed stitching to dye their tea towel in indigo. We have allocated two hours for this process, but you will probably need only 30 minutes to complete the dyeing. You can come late (after work!) if needed.
