Learn the timeless art of broom making in this beginner-friendly class! Guided by an expert instructor, you’ll craft a charming and functional cobweb chaser—a small hand broom perfect for tidying up those hard-to-reach spots. This class covers the basics of broom construction in the Appalachian style, leaving you with a beautiful handmade tool and a new skill to cherish.
SKILLS NEEDED:
Beginners welcome. No previous skills are required.
INSTRUCTOR:
Karen Koch has taught broom making for more than 20 years at venues such as Raveloe Fiber, the Roycroft, and the Adirondack Folk School. She learned the craft from Carlson Tuttle at the Augusta Heritage Center at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia and has also studied with Shawn Hoefer at the Ozark Folk Center in Arkansas.
