Wet Felted Bird Pod with Suzanne O'Brien—July 20 (10:00am–5:00pm)
Wet Felted Bird Pod with Suzanne O'Brien—July 20 (10:00am–5:00pm)
Add some whimsical decor to your backyard, and make a home for our feathered friends! A wet felted bird pod is the perfect home for house finches and other little brown birds. These pods can last multiple seasons and are the perfect gift for the bird enthusiast in your life.
Wet felting is the process by which wool, warm water, soap and agitation are used to create a non-woven felted fabric. These are the key ingredients for a highly creative afternoon! Join us as we explore the possibilities of wet felting techniques and create a unique wet felted bird pod for your home.
Felting can be repetitive and labor intensive. Be prepared to be on your feet for large periods of time throughout the day. Special felting tools will be available to try, and different rolling techniques/modifications will be discussed to ensure success for everyone. Felting is wet and soapy, and hand dyed fiber may bleed dye. Students are asked to bring two old bath towels, wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to have some “good clean fun.”
Lunch is not supplied. Please feel free to bring a snack or a bagged lunch.
