Make Friends with Your Sewing Machine (10am–2pm)

[SOLD OUT]

This short-and-sweet class is for new sewists who want to learn the basics of using their sewing machine and how to keep it operating smoothly. Please bring your sewing machine to the class. If you do not have a machine, you can borrow one of ours or we can help you find a used machine that suits your needs. To use the skills you’ve learned, we’ll finish the class by making a simple re-usable gift bag—so you’ll go home with your first project complete!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
Selecting threads and needles • Basic anatomy of a sewing machine • Threading your machine • Winding a bobbin • Cleaning your machine • Making basic seams • Final project: A reusable gift bag

Make Your Own Pajama Pants (2pm–4pm)

Once you’ve completed the “Make Friends with Your Sewing Machine” class, we invite you to stay on and reinforce your skills by making a pair of pajama pants. All supplies are included, and this class is size inclusive. This is an opportunity to learn about using patterns, selecting fabric, and fitting simple garments, giving you all the skills you need to begin sewing your own basic clothing at home (or take any of our other garment sewing classes at Stitch Buffalo).
