Sewing with Patterns: Hadley Top by Grainline Studio (Sizes 0 to 32)—April 7, 14, 21, 28 (4:30–7:00pm)
Learn to choose the right fabric and sew a simple top using an indie (independent) commercial sewing pattern! You will learn how to evaluate the sewability of different fabrics and how to choose the right fabric for our sewing pattern. We will evaluate the amount of fabric needed, and how to choose your size based on information provided in the pattern. Learn the secrets of pattern size selection within commercial patterns. You will learn to read pattern “hieroglyphics” and work through garment construction step by step. We will guide you through every step of this process. In the end you’ll have great skills and a great garment.
SUPPLIES:
Students should bring their own fabric, pattern, tools, and sewing machine. Please do not order a pattern until you receive a confirmation email from instructor Michelle Frick. The instructor will have some navy linen/rayon and mocha linen/rayon fabrics as an option for your fabric ($8/yard), but students are welcome to bring their own. How to choose and shop for appropriate fabrics will be covered in the first session of this workshop.
PREREQUISITES:
Students must know how to operate a sewing machine and should have completed basic projects within the last 5 years. Completion of Stitch Buffalo’s “Meet Your Machine” class or equivalent experience is required.

Her passion is supporting new and experienced sewists in the creation of beautiful, comfortable clothes that fit as great as they look.
