Knitting Socks: Heels and Toes—10-26-24 (10am–4pm)
Knitting Socks: Heels and Toes—10-26-24 (10am–4pm)
Knitting Socks—Heels and Toes (Both Classes)
Please arrive with a knitted tube that is 60 stitches in circumference and about 2 inches long. To do this, cast on 60 stitches on any size yarn with the appropriate needles and knit stockinette stitch for about two inches). We are just practicing the techniques, so you don't need to use sock yarn. You also do not need to bind off; keep your project on the needles. Please use a long circular needle for Magic Loop or double pointed needles.
If knitting in the round is out of your depth, please cast on 60 stitches and knit a rectangle in stockinette stitch (knit front and purl back), cast on 60). We can seam it up during class to make a tube.
In the "Toes" class, we will learn the Cuff Down technique, using our knitted tube, and Toe Up technique that begins a sock with the toe.
In the "Heels" class, we will use the traditional heel flap and gusset using our knitted tube tube. We will also learn about an afterthought heel and a heel using German Short Rows.
