Stitch Buffalo, in partnership with Radical Joy for Hard Times, invites members of our WNY community to a hand-crafting heart-connecting workshop to print and embroider flags for Radical Joy’s 2025 Global Earth Exchange.

Every June, for nearly 15 years, people around the globe visit places they care about that have been damaged, developed, or destroyed. There, they offer attention, care, and gifts of beauty made from materials collected from the site. It's the central practice of the Radical Joy community 

Radicaljoy.org was designed by founder Trebbe Johnson, who was inspired by the indigenous worldview that nothing exists outside the cycle of life and sought a simple way for people to acknowledge all that the Earth gives to us freely—and to give back our human presence, love, and gratitude.

Join us at Stitch Buffalo as we gather to infuse some "Buffalove” into flags that will be sent around the world as a thank you to the first 50 people who register their 2025 Earth Exchange event. Hear the origin story of the RadJoy bird from former Second Stitch volunteer and RadJoy board member Jennifer Fendya, learn more about the RadJoy practice, and sign up to attend (or to sponsor your own) local Earth Exchange in June! 

SKILLS REQUIRED:
No previous experience is required. Participants will receive instruction in printing flags, and adding hand-stitched embroidery details.

INSTRUCTOR:
This workshop will be led by members of the Stitch Buffalo staff.

SUSTAINABILITY:
Stitch Buffalo is committed to fostering sustainability practices and reducing waste in the textile industry. In this workshop, we will strive to minimize waste and work as much as possible with supplies that have been rescued for reuse.
