Slow Fashion, Slow Stitching: Make an Artful, Hand-Stitched Shirt—June 8, 9:00am–5:00pm
$75.00

Slow fashion is an awareness and approach to fashion that carefully considers the processes and resources required to make clothing. Similarly, slow stitching is a mindfulness activity that encourages us to relax and be present—allowing the busy mind to be distracted through the act of doing.

In this size-inclusive class (XXS–5XL), students will create a simple, unisex shirt using upcycled vintage cotton. From cutting, to sewing, to embellishment, each step is accomplished using simple tools and easy-to-learn techniques. No experience is required.

At the end of the process, you’ll have a soft, wearable, and beautifully finished one-of-a-kind piece to add to your wardrobe! And it probably won’t be the last one you make—this portable, relaxing, and productive project is the perfect accompaniment for a Netflix binge, road trips or flights, waiting rooms, or anywhere else you want to move your hands and quiet your mind.

If you are also registered for our “Print Paint with Ferrous Sulfate” class on June 1, you may print your shirt fabric during that session. There is a discounted rate when you register at the same time for both classes!
