The Ogden Cami is a great beginner/basic garment that can be used over and over, hacked, altered, styled, and restyled into whatever you want and using a broad range of fabrics. (It also requires only 1.25–2.5 yards of fabric.) With 23,700+ #ogdencami Instagram posts, you will have no shortage of inspiration for this design. It is simple, elegant, and easy to turn it into whatever you want after you practice making the base pattern.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
This class is appropriate for beginners who have recently worked on basic sewing projects (pillows, bags, accessories, etc.). For those who may have sewn garments previously, this will be a good refresher class. We will be focusing on garment construction techniques, and review reading and interpreting pattern instructions, sizing and fabric requirements.
SIZES and PATTERN:
This class includes the Ogden Cami paper pattern in the 0–18 size range. If you require the 14–30 size range, please let us know so that we have time to order the correct pattern for you. Size charts are provided below for reference. (Note: The size 0-18 pattern is drafted for a C cup. The size 14-30 pattern is drafted for a D cup. We will cover how to do full bust adjustment if needed, and how to alter the pattern to make the make straps wider to accommodate a regular bra, if desired.)
SUPPLIES:
Please bring your own fabric in the correct yardage for your size. Lightweight woven fabrics such as silk, crepe, rayon challis, cotton lawn, cotton voile, and lightweight linen are ideal. See fabric requirements in the charts below. If you are unable to bring your own fabric, the instructor will have some available for purchase. You may also be able to purchase appropriate fabric from the donated supplies at Stitch Buffalo.
INSTRUCTOR:
Michelle Frick has been sewing clothes for herself and others for decades. Her passion is supporting new and experienced sewists in the creation of beautiful, comfortable clothes that fit as great as they look. Over the last two years, Michelle has been working as a garment sewing instructor and has been immersed in research on the latest techniques and methods, including CAD pattern drafting, projector sewing, and sustainable sewing practices both in the home sewing and commercial fashion industries.
