This short-and-sweet class is perfect for new sewists who want to learn the basics of using their sewing machine and how to keep it operating smoothly. Please bring your sewing machine to the class. If you do not have a machine, you can borrow one of ours or we can help you find a used machine that suits your needs. To reinforce the skills you’ve learned, we’ll finish the class by making a simple re-usable gift bag—so you’ll go home with your first project complete!
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
• Selecting threads and needles
• Basic anatomy of a sewing machine
• Threading your machine
• Winding a bobbin
• Cleaning your machine
• Making basic seams
• Final project: A re-usable gift bag
SUSTAINABILITY:
Stitch Buffalo is committed to fostering sustainability practices and reducing waste in the textile industry. In this workshop, we will strive to minimize waste and will work with fabric, thread, and other supplies that have been rescued for reuse. We will also create a project that can be re-used and replace disposable gift bags/wraps.
