$50.00

Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese form of braid making. Literally meaning “gathered threads,” Kumihimo braids are made by interlacing strands of silk, yarn, or other fibers to make a strong, decorative braided rope that can easily be turned into jewelry and accessories. All supplies are included.

In this class you will learn:
• Basic history of Kumihimo.
• How to braid using the handheld foam disk.
• How to braid with different cords and using different patterns.
• Make an eight-element kongoh gumi key chain
• Make an eight-element kongoh gumi necklace
• Learn how to choose a focal piece and how to attach a closure to your finished necklace

About the Instructor:
Maria Pacheco is a retired chemistry professor who got bit by the Kumihimo bug eight years ago. She is a member of the American Kumihimo Society and has taken multiple classes both in person and online. Maria loves the meditative aspect of Kumihimo and how the combination of fibers, colors and element placing allows you to create beautiful ropes right from the start.
