Stitch Buffalo invites you to join us in SPRINGVILLE, NY, for a collaborative textile arts project. Over the course of two sessions, we will collectively examine social justice issues and each participant will create a “stitched story,” reflecting their special areas of interest and lived experiences. No sewing experience is required to participate.
Session 1: June 9th from 5:30 – 8:30pm
This workshop is an overview of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) language and terminology, followed by a discussion about how it is seen, heard, and felt. Then, we will draw connections and brainstorm visuals for presenting a cohesive message in your art piece. We will also explore the creative process, methods of making, and some of the Stitched Stories projects already completed by members of the community.
Work with Stitch Buffalo executive director Dawne Hoeg and Stitch Buffalo volunteers to further refine your vision and turn your ideas into stitched stories using fabric collage, appliqué, embroidery, and beading.
Session 2: June 11th from 9:30 – 12:30pm
Work with Stitch Buffalo staff and volunteers to complete your Social Justice Stitched Stories project.
$50 per student, all supplies included
